For 80+ years, Chattanooga’s entrepreneurs have built their businesses at the Maker’s Building.
Now it’s your turn.
Built in the early 20th century as a mixed-use residential & commercial building, local businessmen quickly recognized the value of having several small businesses under one roof. Its humble start as a broom factory during the Great Depression led to a transformation into the original home of McKee Foods in the 1950s (also known as Little Debbie Snack Cakes). The Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company operated here until 1988 when it became the Omega Tile Company.
In recent years, Goodwill Industries chose the centrally located site as a non-profit hub. The Maker’s Building, like the entrepreneurs who have repeatedly chosen it, has never stopped evolving, adapting, and reinventing itself.
The Maker’s Building welcomes you to join the legacy of Chattanooga’s small business owners who have chosen this space to build, craft, and even bake, a better future for themselves.
